The Sampaguita Children’s Learning Center envision her graduates equipped with knowledge, skills, and values expedient to a developing and ever changing social milieu and truly “Maka Diyos, Makabayan, Makatao at Maka-kalikasan”.

Mission

Through the collaboration of the PTCA the Sampaguita Children’s Learning Center is committed to provide learning experience and guidance to pupils to:

• Fulfill the school’s vision
• Hasten the holistic development of the pupils.
• Help the pupils develop strong foundation to face the challenges of his/her next stage of development, the secondary education and his/ her future, and
• Encourage the pupils to strive for academic and vocational excellence for global competence.

A Brief History of Sampaguita Children’s Learning Center

Sometime in the late 70’s, the need to offer pre-school education was growing in General Santos City.  Most pre-school education were offered by Protestant Churches as an extension of their ministry.  The Methodist Church was the forerunner of those offering pre-school education making use of church workers who have specialized in Kindergarten education from the Harris Memorial College in Manila.  It was at this point in time that inspired our founder, Miss Pat Mari to establish a private school to augment this growing need.  She resigned from the United Methodist Church and work untiringly until the Sampaguita Children’s Learning Center was born.

After all the requirements were compiled with the Sampaguita Children’s Learning Center was formally opened in the school year 1980-1981 with first batch of 24 kindergarten pupils.  SCLC has its humble classroom and the rest is now history.

The following years has seen its increase in enrollment that by the third year  it was already offering the three level in the pre-school course.  The Nursery, Kindergarten I and II.

On June 17, 1985 the pre-school was granted recognition under Government Recognition No. 13 series of 1985 by the Ministry ng Edukasyon, Kultura at Sports (MECS) Rehiyon 11, lungsod ng Davao, now DepEd.

The enrollment continued increasing every year and through this the parents insisted and encourage the management to offer elementary course.  Without hesitation the management started work on the requirements and submitted the application to open the elementary course.

In the school year 1994-1995 the school was granted authority to operate complete Primary, (Grades 1 to 4) and in the school year that followed the school was granted the  authority to operate the Intermediate (Grade 5 to 6).  From its humble beginning SCLC had at one time peaked at 500 pupils.

SCLC is proud that 100% of its elementary graduates are passing the entrance examination for high school and a considerable number have passed the scholarships for National Science School in Davao City, Alabel, Sarangani Province, and the City High School Science Curriculum, SCLC can also boast of graduate who are already successful in their chosen profession and businesses.  This was the result of improved instructions and Staff Development Program.

Through series of evaluations and for the school to cope with the standards set by the DepEd, eventually per Education Act No. 2706 as amended by Batas Pambansa Blg. 232 (education Act of 1992); the Secretary of the Department Education granded SCLC the Government Recognition No. 00419 Series of 2003 represented by Region 12 Regional Director Estrella Abid Babano, CESO III.

In 2008, the previous administration now getting old have decided to turn over the school to the new administrators who are more pragmatic, and with more knowledge in dynamic and democratic approaches to supervision and administration.

The assumption of the new administration is not the end of the story of Sampaguita Children’s Learning Center but the beginning of a new management committed to continue helping the community by providing affordable and quality basic education.  The new administration is committed to continue in the making of the history of Sampaguita Children’s Learning Center, through the  concerted efforts of the parents, pupils, teachers, and the community.
